 Bjørn Melhus
«No Sunshine»

In a video influenced by the aesthetics of music videos and advertising films, Melhus plays four persons of identical appearance who, in duets of pop song phrases, communicate with each other, against each other, and looking directly into the camera.
Infantile bodies appear to float in a virtual space that is simultaneously their own interior world. Colored red all over, with artificial hair and skin-tight suits, they recall the human clones in science fiction television series. In love with themselves and sexually neuter, one pair's excited, childlike-naive voices comment the other, externally identical pair. The latter apparently performs terrible things on each other, but exerts an unknown, dangerous attraction as the obscure object of repressed longings.
