«The Dachau Project»
‘The Dachau Project’ attempts to come to grips with the difficult subject of the Holocaust by investigating the authoritarian character of the exhibition in the memorial museum on the site of Dachau concentration camp. The installation shows instruction and warning signs as evidence of continuity in German history. But, says Jochen Gerz, ‘the linguistic organization in Dachau Museum is only seemingly the opposite of the linguistic organization in the concentration camp; on the contrary, both systems supplement each other, either one a project of the other.’
