Konrad Lueg
*1939—died 1996, also known as Düsseldorf-based gallerist Konrad Fischer; from 1963 to 1968 the gallerist also worked as an artist. With «pattern paintings» intentionally resembling wallpaper, and paintings that capture the image of viewers on their surface, the work presents a playful challenge to notions of gallery space and what constitutes a painting. Lueg attended the Düsseldorf Academy, where he studied with Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke under Bruno Goller and Karl-Otto Götz from 1958 to 1962. His first major showing was titled «Living with Pop,» a happening he organized with Gerhard Richter in 1963.

Gerhard Richter
b in 1932 in Dresden. 1949–1952 advertisement and stage painter in Zittau. 1951–1956 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Dresden (GDR). In 1961 he left the GDR and moved to Düsseldorf. 1961–1963 studied under K. O. Götz at the Academy of Fine Art, Düsseldorf. From 1962 onwards he used amateur photographs, advertisements and book magazine illustrations as models for his photographic realism, and used his own photographs from 1968. In 1971 he was appointed as a professor at the Academy of Fine Art, Düsseldorf.
