Douglas Gordon
born 1966 in Glasgow, Great Britain; following his studies at the Glasgow School of Art (1984-1988), Douglas Gordon participated in two-year-long graduate program at Glasgow’s Slade School of Art. He lives and works in Glasgow. After becoming known for his remark «Film is dead,» Gordon attempts to translocate the myths, images, and projections of cinema to artistic realms. He usually incorporates original films in his video installation, which he estranges through the use of slow motion, fast forwarding, or double exposures, and in this way reactivates them. Raised in a Calvinistic environment, as much as by the «babysitter» of TV, Gordon consistently questions moralistic criteria such as good and bad.
